Physiologists became interested in the impact of compression
garments on muscle performance. Dr. William Kraemer, director
of the Center for Sports Medicine at The Pennsylvania State
University, was one of those interested physiologists. Dr.
Kraemer and the center constructed a laboratory experiment
that studied athletes and non-athletes in repetitive jumps.
"What we found out," says Dr. Kraemer, "was
that when LYCRA® POWER garments were worn, you
saw better power output over time.
It worked subtly with the bodys biology to improve
performance under fatigue."
Efraim Nathan, president of Lontex, Inc in Perkasie, PA,
sells LYCRA® POWER shorts to NFL teams, including
the Miami Dolphins, the New York Giants, and the Minnesota
Vikings, as well as many college teams during their training
camps and games. A textile engineer by training, Nathan
says, " I dont just sell LYCRA®. Im
a believer. Were finding a great response not only
from athletic teams, but from anyone doing physical training.
Its great for police or military training, and the
Army is taking a look at these products right now as well."
